Ömer Sami (b. 1993) is a filmmaker of British-Trinidadian, Turkish-Irish decent. His work is rooted in unique, often overlooked, perspectives and explores themes of memory, imagination, belonging and identity.

His recent film Sam and the Plant Next Door (2019, The Guardian) received an Ekko Shortlist Award for Best Documentary, was nominated for an IDA Documentary Award, Danish Academy Award (Robert Award), Critics' Choice Award and premiered at the 2019 Camden International Film Festival (CIFF). His work has featured on Vimeo Staff Pick, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Aeon, Scandinavian broadcasters DR and SVT, and festivals worldwide.

He is a programming consultant for Concordia Studio’s Artists in Residence fellowship program. He currently studies Documentary Directing at The National Film School of Denmark in Copenhagen.
