Ömer Sami (b. 1993) is a documentary filmmaker of British-Trinidadian, Turkish-Irish decent. He tells character-led stories, often through a child’s eyes and mind.

His recent film Sam and the Plant Next Door (The Guardian) premiered at the 2019 Camden International Film Festival. His work as director and editor has featured on Vimeo Staff Pick, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Aeon, Scandinavian broadcasters DR and SVT, and festivals worldwide. 

Alongside filmmaking, he works as a screener for the Sundance Documentary Film Program and a programming consultant for Concordia Studio’s Artists in Residence. He is currently studying Documentary Directing at The National Film School of Denmark, based in Copenhagen.
